Catherine Zeta Jones (Pacific Coast News) It's been a year of struggles for Catherine Zeta-Jones, whose husband Michael Douglas recently battled (and recovered from) throat cancer. On Wednesday, the actress's rep confirmed that she has checked into a mental health facility.

"After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay," her rep said. "She's feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films."

The Oscar-winning actress is seeking treatment for Bipolar II disorder, which is characterized by mood swings ranging from hypomania (a period of elevated euphoria or irritability) to depression.

Catherine Zeta-Jones allegedly has an incident at her hotel after dinner with husband Michael Douglas. The couple first went out for dinner at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant at Claridge's Hotel. Upon returning to their hotel the doorway was suddenly blocked and Catherine reportedly started to scream that she had been punched. She could later be seen touching her chin. (Pacific Coast News)
