“I’ve gone to China and Malaysia to see if I could produce my things there. But it’s only here where my ideas can turn out the way I really want them to, and that is largely because of the skills of our people,” he said.
“When it comes to skills, we’re second to none in Asia. We make beautiful things that we can truly call our own. That is what I want to accomplish with my pieces. I always carry that Filipino spirit and have it resonate through my work.”

The Philippine General Hospital Then and Now
A tertiary state-owned hospital administered and operated by the University of the Philippines Manila. Founded on 1907.
PGH celebrated its centennial in 2007, one hundred years since the US government passed a law establishing it. The hospital has seen the worst of tropical epidemics during its early existence and the worst of the war in the 1940’s. It is one of the very few Philippine hospitals that remained open all throughout the war.

Happy Independence Day, Pilipinas!
Philippine Independence, as depicted on the five-peso bill way back my kiddie days. In almost every Philippine history subject I took up, we would recall how are ancestors fought for freedom. Of course, the face of freedom implanted in my mind then was that of Filipinos being free from the bondage of foreign rule.
Fast forward today, when the five-peso bill is reduced to a coin and the Philippine society has seen many changes…I wonder what each Filipino’s idea of freedom is.
Rainy afternoons.
