Philippines bids to become one of the world’s select few...

I know some of you might not be aware of this but do you know that we, the Philippines have our own Film archive? Though the group still have lots of films to gather since it was only a decade ago that it was started. Its still worth to support. These movies are part of our culture and has unknowingly ‘recorded’ how we as a nation grew (and still growing) and like what Martin Scorsese said; ‘Cinema is the best medium for understanding how we see the world.’

Check them out at http://arkivista.org

Philippine cinema is almost a hundred years young. In Asia, Filipino filmmakers were among the pioneers and its film industry among the largest in the world in terms of output for a good number of decades. Its lively film scene remains a vibrant presence in world cinema, and a handful of its practitioners have achieved world renown. Moreover, a handful of prominent filmmakers and their films have figured time and again in establishing the esteemed reputation of Philippine cinema, locally and internationally. Positive critical endorsements for these films formed thru repeated viewings have helped established their positions in the canons of Philippine Cinematic art.

Of the roughly 8,000 plus full-length films produced in the first century of local cinema, many have been irretrievably lost, rendering moot any judgment as to their artistic merits. Just as bad are the forgotten status of numerous talented filmmakers from way back, whose best works and once promising careers have fallen off the radar film history.”

The Philippines’ most powerful ally US Govt will not be coming to its aid should its spat with China escalate into a shooting war. How sad, not to mention the growing Military Power of China. This Yellow Govt is very confident on provoking China. Good luck to the Philippines!

First time kong kumain ng balut na buo yung duckling sa loob. Haha. Grabe lang. Masarap pala. Noon kasi natatakot akong kainin yung duck baka mabulunan ako. Mehehe.
