There are a few stars in Hollywood who seem to prefer to keep their stunning good looks undercover -- often beneath bad hair (facial and otherwise), awful glasses, raggedy hoodies, and sometimes all 3.  Jared Leto has been melting hearts since his days on My So Called Life,

but, now that he's transitioned to musician as 30 Seconds from Mars frontman, his recent crazy haircuts and dye jobs seem to be intentionally lowering his hotness factor. Take this picture for instance: His hair matches his suitcase AND sneakers. That move screamed "Don't call me hot, I'm a hardcore rocker."

12. Emma Watson's Tactic: Drastic Haircut 

Emma Watson made headlines everywhere when she cut off her flowing locks. The starlet says the experience was "liberating" and she'd wanted to do it since she was 16 but never could because she's been filming Harry Potter for so long. The actress seems to her new 'do, but her fans were very 
disappointed.

Natalie Portman's pregnant so she currently has a valid excuse for wanting to be covered up from head to toe, but the actress has been wearing these over-sized jackets forever! We're not even sure she can see at this point.

Dear John Mayer: Cut your hair -- any of it, preferably all of it. The rocker seems to be letting himself go these days, with long, unruly hair and unkempt facial hair. He's gotten in some hot water with the ladies over the last year, so maybe he's trying to ward them off with this sloppy 'do.

 We understand the whole effortlessly beautiful thing, but Michelle Rodriguez takes it to the next level with her rowdy tresses. Plus, she often makes intenionally strange faces for the camera, with or without combed hair. 

 5. Avril Lavigne's Tactic: Stuck in 2001

Avril Lavigne's punk rock princess style, especially her confetti-colored hair, was totally hip -- 10 years ago! We appreciate that she's been true to her style all this time, but she's got to know combat boots and toole are no longer acceptable on the red carpet.

4. Johnny Depp's Tactic: Straggly Hair

Let's face it: Johnny Depp is pretty hot no matter what. But, he'd be even hotter without the long hair, weird hats, and haphazard facial hair. He seems to make it a point to hide those chisled features.

Brad Pitt first grew some bad facial hair in the form of a mustache in 2008,which turned into a wild goatee in 2009. It was so bad that People even published an open letter to him and his scruff. By 2010, he was sporting a full beard, explaining it was nothing more than "boredom." This year, he showed up at the Cannes Film Festival with a goatee -- a graying goatee at that! There's no denying the guy's gorgeous, but he must know the hair takes him down a notch.

She’s got 32 million Facebook followers, 10 million Twitter fans, and a devoted legion of little monsters. But Mama Monster isn’t done with her quest for total pop domination: in a move in line with Gaga-esque surprises, Lady Gaga is posting audio tracks of the deluxe edition of her new album Born This Way on YouTube and VEVO on Sunday, May 22 at 9 p.m. PT to coincide with the album’s physical release.

While the Grammys and the American Music Awards at least occasionally recognize artistry over dollar signs, the Billboard Awards cut straight to the year's top-selling stars. It's no surprise then, that 12 artists constitute the bulk of this year's nominations with the singers above representing 36 nominations. Click through to see who else is nominated.

Last summer Drake told us we could thank him later, and now the Billboard Awards have thanked him in the form of five nominations including Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, and Top Rap Artist.

                                     11.Nicki Minaj

The last year has made Nicki Minaj rich and famous, and now she's nominated for four awards, including Top New Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Rap Album.

10. Ke$ha

It's hard to believe it's been nearly two years since Ke$ha broke onto the scene with "Tik Tok." This year she's nominated for six Billboard Awards thanks to the success of her follow-up album Herself.

9. Usher

Usher is no stranger to the Billboard Awards. He's taken home 13 of them in the past and this year he's nominated for 10 more including Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, and Top R&B Artist.

8. Katy Perry

Katy Perry is responsible for roughly 80% of the fun on pop radio these days, so it's no surprise that she's found herself nominated for 11 Billboard Awards including Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, and Top Pop Artist.

7. Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars has had a big year, going from producer to star. Thanks to songs like "Grenade" and "Just the Way You Are," Bruno is nominated for 11 awards, including Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, and Top Digital Songs Artist.

6. Taio Cruz

Thanks to the break-out success of "Dynamite," British artist Taio Cruz has found himself nominated for six awards, including Top New Artist, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top Digital Song.

5. Taylor Swift

Lightning struck a second time this year with the success of Taylor Swift's sophomore album, Speak Now. Taylor has found herself nominated for seven awards, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Country Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album.

4. Rihanna

If you count her credit for appearing on Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," Rihanna is nominated for more Billboard Awards than any other artist with a grand total of 18 nods. Among the many nominations, highlights include Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, and Top Digital Songs Artist.

3. Lady Gaga

After releasing The Fame and the value-added Fame Monster, Lady Gaga embarked on the most successful debut tour ever. It's no surprise then that she's nominated for 15 awards, including Top Touring Artist. Other nominations include Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Social Artist, and Top Use of a Giant Egg on a Red Carpet... OK that last one is made up.

2. Eminem

Thanks to the success of Recovery, and especially the Rihanna-featuring "Love the Way You Lie," Eminem is nominated for 17 awards this year including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist.

1. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is nominated for 11 Billboard Awards. Highlights include Top Artist, Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, and Top Digital Songs Artist. If Justin is still feeling slighted over being shut out at the Grammys, he can likely comfort himself on Sunday by taking home at least a few new trophies.
