Beach wallpaper:

Beautiful beaches - wallpapers for your laptop to refocus on the beauty of God’s creation and God’s Love for all mankind.

Enjoy your dreams of a vacation, a honeymoon with your lover or a life on a tropical paradise beach … then work a little harder and realize your dream like I did to enjoy life in paradise here and now on this very planet !

The paradise islands of the Philippines offer some of the world’s most beautiful beach sceneries. Specially the island beaches of Palawan and its many small Calamianes islands near Coron offer splendid white sand beach with deep blue crystal clear ocean water - turning into a beautiful turquoise along the shallow white sand beach areas. Enjoy more pictures from beautiful islands and blue ocean island sceneries from the beautiful Philippines.

FUCK YOU PO. Wala kang karapatang tumira dito. Nararapat kang tumira sa impyerno.

LET’S GO AZKALS! WE BELIEVE! :D

There is a great crisis that surrounds the local architectural practice today. It is the fact that when you step out of your house, you’re in an architectural dimension of nowhere. Lost in space-time. There is a Mediterranean house around the corner. There is a Japanese-inspired apartment at the next block. There is a condo at the highway that tries to look modern on the outside but classical on the inside. Every building is confused of its self.

Pluralism is an overstatement to the current state of practice. Pluralism is suppose to be healthy, suppose to be an influx of exemplar ideas. The numerous designs that are contagiously spreading around the metropolis are nothing more than mix-match repetitions of the past. Or the foreign. Not pluralism to me.

The reason why architecture doesn’t matter to people outside of the profession (and even to several within the profession) lies in the world they are situated in. They don’t see themselves live in it in the future. I don’t see my future family live in this kind of junk.

Comedian Goerge Carlin once said:

It looked pretty good. It was prestine. Paradise! Have you seen it lately? Have you taken a good look at it lately? It’s fuckin’ embarrassing! Only a nation of unenlightened halfwits could have taken this beautiful place and turn it into what it is today: a shopping mall. A big fuckin’ shopping mall!

He talked about America. Although I’d like to think he talked about the Philippines, too. If he saw the sprawling megalomaniac malls today, I bet he’d scream like hell.

Now, either we start critically thinking and designing the future we want our children to live in or we all decay in this pile of garbage. Soon.

The road less traveled

Aba’y ayaw ba magpatalo?

Ma’am: Sino pumapayag sa same sex marriage?

ME: *Taas kamay*

Ma’am: Ikaw Chantal, bakit ka pumapayag?

ME: Ma’am kasi po walang boundaries pagdating sa pag ibig. Pag LOVE po. LOVE talaga.

ME: Hindi rin Ma’am.

Ma’am: Kaya nga kailangan nilang magbago eh.

ME: Ma’am. Hindi na yun mababago. Ano yun? Tatanda nalang silang magisa?

Opinyon namin?

Gusto kasi maging pastora nung teacher namin kaya ganun. Haist.

Kayo? Ok ba sa inyo ang same sex marriage or not?

These are preserved Male butterflies according to our tour guide.

Turned into a Butterfly! *Haha!* Our very “creative” tour guide took this.

And I haven’t sleep all night

And all I do was look at your picture.

I tried to read a book

But my mind thought is all about you.

I guess I should try to get some sleep

Be off to work tonight.

Somehow I wish I would forget

You. You perfect piece of crap.

1…2…3…

               4…5…6…

I wish you gone..

Get out of my mind…

Mactan Island, Philippines

these kids were definitely a highlight of the trip. they’d always climb over the wall behind the place we were staying and socialize with us, ask us questions and for “remembrances”. I’ve been reminiscing about the Philippines and my time spent there a lot recently, can’t wait until I have the opportunity to return.

I’ve been researching the different colleges in the Philippines for the past hour + half, since that’s where I’m gonna move/attend college there in less than three years. So my three choices of colleges are La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, or Ateneo Graduate School of Business. My career is still uncertain though, from piano, photography, business management, or something in fine arts. Hm.

Jeepneys are the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They were originally made from US military jeeps left over from World War II.

A shit load of little markets and food carts. Their food is amazing.

One giant ass mall. There’s actually a lot of malls.
A lot of malls with a lot of poor people. ._.

Nat King Cole was the first international artist to perform at Araneta Coliseum in Manila. There he sang a OPM love standard, “Dahil Sa Iyo” to a very appreciative audience.

My vacation to the Philippines.

It’s been such a humbling experience & I’m so blessed that I got to see my family again.

Just want to share my experience with anyone who wants to watch!

Focus on the Global South founder and Akbayan Representative Walden Bello debates Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on BCC World Debate. Notice how Congressman Bello compares Thailand and Indonesia to the Philippines. A MUST SHARE VID!

If you’re into exaggerated humor, you’ll enjoy Wassabi Productions. The pair of best friends, Alex and Roi, made a lot of videos together while they were in high school in Durham, NC and developed a bit of a following. A lot of their videos were lip sync MVs. Other videos included original sketches with non sequitur humor similar to that of Family Guy.

Here’s a classic lip sync of theirs to Toy Box’s “Best Friend.”

Marlboro Hills..

- Batanes, PH

There were at least nine women linked with Rizal; namely Segunda Katigbak, Leonor Valenzuela, Leonor Rivera, Consuelo Ortiga, O-Sei San, Gertrude Beckette, Nelly Boustead, Suzanne Jacoby and Josephine Bracken. These women might have been beguiled by his intelligence, charm and wit.

Segunda Katigbak and Leonor Valenzuela

Segunda Katigbak was her puppy love. Unfortunately, his first love was engaged to be married to a town mate- Manuel Luz. After his admiration for a short girl in the person of Segunda, then came Leonor Valenzuela a.k.a. Orang, a tall girl from Pagsanjan. Rizal send her love notes written in invisible ink, that could only be deciphered over the warmth of the lamp or candle. He visited her on the eve of his departure to Spain and bade her a last goodbye.

Leonor Rivera
Leonor Rivera, his sweetheart for 11 years played the greatest influence in keeping him from falling in love with other women during his travel. Unfortunately, Leonor’s mother disapproved of her daughter’s relationship with Rizal, who was then a known filibustero. She hid from Leonor all letters sent to her sweetheart. Leonor believing that Rizal had already forgotten her, sadly consented her to marry the Englishman Henry Kipping, her mother’s choice.

Consuelo Ortiga
Consuelo Ortiga y Rey, the prettier of Don Pablo Ortiga’s daughters, fell in love with him. He dedicated to her A la Senorita C.O. y R., which became one of his best poems. The Ortiga’s residence in Madrid was frequented by Rizal and his compatriots. He probably fell in love with her and Consuelo apparently asked him for romantic verses. He suddenly backed out before the relationship turned into a serious romance, because he wanted to remain loyal to Leonor Rivera and he did not want to destroy hid friendship with Eduardo de Lete who was madly in love with Consuelo.

O Sei San
O Sei San, a Japanese samurai’s daughter taught Rizal the Japanese art of painting known as su-mie. She also helped Rizal improve his knowledge of Japanese language. If Rizal was a man without a patriotic mission, he would have married this lovely and intelligent woman and lived a stable and happy life with her in Japan because Spanish legation there offered him a lucrative job.

Gertrude Beckett
While Rizal was in London annotating the Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas, he boarded in the house of the Beckett family, within walking distance of the British Museum. Gertrude, a blue-eyed and buxom girl was the oldest of the three Beckett daughters. She fell in love with Rizal. Tottie helped him in his painting and sculpture. But Rizal suddenly left London for Paris to avoid Gertrude, who was seriously in love with him. Before leaving London, he was able to finish the group carving of the Beckett sisters. He gave the group carving to Gertrude as a sign of their brief relationship.

Nellie Boustead
Rizal having lost Leonor Rivera, entertained the thought of courting other ladies. While a guest of the Boustead family at their residence in the resort city of Biarritz, he had befriended the two pretty daughters of his host, Eduardo Boustead. Rizal used to fence with the sisters at the studio of Juan Luna. Antonio Luna, Juan’s brother and also a frequent visitor of the Bousteads, courted Nellie but she was deeply infatuated with Rizal. In a party held by Filipinos in Madrid, a drunken Antonio Luna uttered unsavory remarks against Nellie Boustead. This prompted Rizal to challenge Luna into a duel. Fortunately, Luna apologized to Rizal, thus averting tragedy for the compatriots.

Their love affair unfortunately did not end in marriage. It failed because Rizal refused to be converted to the Protestant faith, as Nellie demanded and Nellie’s mother did not like a physician without enough paying clientele to be a son-in-law. The lovers, however, parted as good friends when Rizal left Europe.

Suzanne Jacoby
In 1890, Rizal moved to Brussels because of the high cost of living in Paris. In Brussels, he lived in the boarding house of the two Jacoby sisters. In time, they fell deeply in love with each other. Suzanne cried when Rizal left Brussels and wrote him when he was in Madrid.

Josephine Bracken
In the last days of February 1895, while still in Dapitan, Rizal met an 18-year old petite Irish girl, with bold blue eyes, brown hair and a happy disposition. She was Josephine Bracken, the adopted daughter of George Taufer from Hong Kong, who came to Dapitan to seek Rizal for eye treatment. Rizal was physically attracted to her. His loneliness and boredom must have taken the measure of him and what could be a better diversion that to fall in love again. But the Rizal sisters suspected Josephine as an agent of the friars and they considered her as a threat to Rizal’s security.

Rizal asked Josephine to marry him, but she was not yet ready to make a decision due to her responsibility to the blind Taufer. Since Taufer’s blindness was untreatable, he left for Hon Kong on March 1895. Josephine stayed with Rizal’s family in Manila. Upon her return to Dapitan, Rizal tried to arrange with Father Antonio Obach for their marriage. However, the priest wanted a retraction as a precondition before marrying them. Rizal upon the advice of his family and friends and with Josephine’s consent took her as his wife even without the Church blessings. Josephine later give birth prematurely to a stillborn baby, a result of some incidence, which might have shocked or frightened her.

I’m used to the idea of “not having classes” on holidays, including Christmas, New Year and the like; and of course weekdays (although in college, it’s possible to have classes seven days a week). And we usually “celebrate” whenever declarations come saying “[Insert date here] is a holiday; therefore, no classes on all levels.” and the students will go “Yaaaay!” thinking it will be another day out of school so yaaay.

What I don’t get is the need, or rather, the act of saying “yaaay”. I have to be honest, school is hard, with all the homework and exams but hey, didn’t you pay for it? Don’t you know you need to learn something? Don’t you know that the money you spent on class cancelled never goes back to your savings? I don’t know if this attitude happens also outside the Philippines but, people say that the youth is the country’s future. If this attitude settles on every youth in this generation and the next, what future will the country have?

One of the casualties of the war was this stunning wax image of Rizal by Guillermo E. Tolentino (later to be first National Artist for Sculpture). This image wore Rizal’s original clothes and had human hair stitched on the head and styled, allegedly, by Rizal’s own barber. It was the closest to seeing the National Hero alive but the Japanese decided to make a bonfire in the UP LIbrary and Rizal who was in the Filipiniana section melted away.
