I’m stopping in Manila for an hour. It’s so short, but I know...

Taken from Real Coffee Cafe

Coming through Manila Airport.

Stepping off the plane and entering the humidity. Walking across the dotted floors that make the luggage go KAKUNK KAKUNK KAKUNK! (His neighbors couldn’t stand it)

Lol. Seeing all the boards with the beautiful tourist spots. I like seeing those.

I like that for some reason.

Philippines… one day.

I’ve seen a video or two about it and I’m just confused…

Is that the REAL cause of poverty, miseducation, etc.???

Is this what the Aquinos intended?

I need BOTH sides of this issue.

… I’m confused.

Crossing the Thin Line.

Happy Philippine Independence Day!

Today marks our 113th year of independence from Spanish colonial rule.

Foo Fighters - The Best of You

“‘Best of You’ is a song of resistance. It’s about the refusal to be taken advantage of by something that’s bigger than you, or someone you’re in love with. It’s the fight in the face of adversity,”

- Dave Grohl

Happy Independence day… be thankful that you are able to sit in a computer to read this or drink a goddamn coffee while taking a picture of yourself without any restrictions or any force against your freedom.

Rizal depicted as McDo mascot:

“…artist Roel Obemio… portrayed the 19th-century icon as a McDonald’s mascot totting an iPod.

Rizal may not be a product of UP (which was established 12 years after his death), but the institution can be considered the “realization” of Rizal’s dream of a national university, according to Mirano.”

Who made Dr. Jose P. Rizal the Foremost National Hero of the Philippines? kristajirah

THE FILIPINOS. He was already a hero when he was alive. He encourages his countrymen to identify themselves as “FILIPINOS” which were exclusively used by the Spaniards who were born in the Philippines as their identity to unite our country as one. Of course, the Spaniards angrily condemned him because they don’t want to make equal to “indios.”

Aside from that, he…

1. can afford a Stradivarius

2. writes pretty darn good

3. is an eye doctor extraordinaire

4. is kinda cute (You know that’s true XD)

S. Korea president says banking scandal exposes 'rampant' corruption

Seoul by ~ Jonak ~ on Flickr.

sweet corn in seoul…. i love sweet corn

Alright guys, so I guess my tumblr should start up now that I’m a week away from my trip to Korea. I think that I will follow suit of my friend JT (check her out at http://sleep-eat-paint-repeat.tumblr.com/) and begin by telling you a bit about myself, where I’m going, and why. This will be a supplement to my video blog, which will be linked later, and will focus on my stay in Seoul, South Korea this summer.

Well without further ado, let me introduce you to myself ^^

Me!

-Ashley Gooden

Seoul, South Korea

Eventually I would like to teach in Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and somewhere in South America.

I’m making a start, in six weeks I should be about to experience my first full day in Korea.  I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone.

Seolleung (King Seongjong)_??(??), Seoul KOREA by Koreabrand-03 on Flickr.

Last month, the U.S. Navy intercepted a North Korean ship suspected of carrying missile technology to Myanmar and forced it to return home, according to sources quoted by the New York Times. The ship was North Korean, but was registered in Belize.

A probe into allegations of embezzlement and illegal lending at small savings banks has exposed a culture of corruption that is “rampant not only among financial regulators but also in other parts of society, ranging from the judiciary, tax authorities and military through to the civil service,” South Korean President Lee Myung-bak acknowledged in a radio address Monday.

view of the lunar eclipse in The Philippines.

See you in 10 Days!!!

Just checked out my Flag Counter for my Blog and saw Someone from Philippines check my blog out. Many thanks to whoever that person was :)

Meet, Makati. :) A skyview of the famous business centre of the Philippines!

Say for example, if someone commits the crime of rape before the age of 18, the person will not be imprisoned, however, the person will undergo a specific “program” as deemed appropriate by the DSWD. What’s the basis? It’s R.A. 9344 or Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006. This act was authored by Sen. Pangilinan. As what was said by our Constitution Professor, after the suspect is pronounced guilty, the person will be returned to the parents or nearest guardian. Then the DSWD will just make visits to their home.

That act is just stupid. They should revise that act and add that a Juvenile Delinquent facility/prison will be established. This way, the criminal will know what it’s like committing a crime at a very young age. Hey, they have those such facilities/prisons in the U.S.
